Is there any way to follow a 28ct cross stitch on 14ct aida without doubling the size?

Posted by admin on November 27th, 2010 and filed under cross stitch kits | 1 Comment »

I bought a cross stitch kit which turned out to come with 28ct aida. I’m finding it impossible to do. Is there anyway to follow the chart on 14ct aida or even 18ct without making the image end up huge? It is a home sweet home design which I want to frame so doubling the size on 14ct would ruin it :(

If you use a different count it will change the size of the picture. sorry.

Would it matter if I followed a 28 count cross stitch on 14 count aida?

I’ve recently bought a cross stitch kit and had no idea it came with 28hpi fabric. It is literally a nightmare for me. Would it make any difference to the appearance if I followed it on 14 count aida? I know it will end up bigger, but would the image still end up as good?

Typically, even weave fabrics are worked "over two", so you’re actually making 14 cross stitches per linear inch, just as you are with 14 ct aida.

Any one have Lorri Birmingham’s cross stitch kit, Frosty Friends?

Posted by admin on November 7th, 2010 and filed under cross stitch kits | 2 Comments »

I have the kit but it didn’t come with the pattern and Lorri has retired so I cannot get one through her. Hoping someone has out there has it so I could get a copy. Thanks!

Here is an auction for it on Ebay:

With the shipping, though, it’s going to cost at least $10 to buy it, though!

I would still try the publisher and see what they have to say. There should be some kind of contact info on the kit.

What is the difference between a ‘cross stitch kit’ and a ‘cross stitch pattern’?

Posted by admin on August 27th, 2010 and filed under cross stitch kits | 4 Comments »

I want to start doing cross stitching, and I’ve just bought a few little mini kits to help get me started but some are so expensive. I’ve noticed just getting a pattern is a lot cheaper. What is the difference between getting a full kit or getting just the pattern? Does a pattern not come with any instructions?

A kit has everything you need to complete it – fabric, threads, needle and pattern/chart.

A pattern on its own is just that – the chart only. You then have to buy the fabric, threads and needle seperately yourself. It does work out cheaper once you’ve built up a stock of fabrics and silks, and gives more flexibility to change some colours, size etc. As well as shop-bought patterns, there’s a fantastic range of charts available in specialist magazines, books and on the internet too.

If you’re just starting out though, its cheaper and easier to stick to complete kits for a while.

cross stitch christmas kits?

can anyone help me find a website that sells christmas table napkins and menu kits please i can find tablecloths easy enough but not napkins or menu cards any ideas would be appreciated thank you

There are a few at Herrschners but to get a better variety and it would probably be cheaper than a kit you pick a design you like and use waste canvas on a plain fabric linen. There are several sites to get free charts that might suit you. Good luck with your project.

complete cross stitch its have all kits included?

Posted by admin on June 14th, 2010 and filed under cross stitch kits | 3 Comments »

i see the cross stitch from ebay .that stitch is looking good. i try to buy that. but i have no ideas in the words" complete cross stitch kit"that means all kits included or finished cross stitch..please answer me

It could mean 3 things.
1. Kit complete with thread and needle and pattern
2. Kit complete with thread and needle and pattern and also picture printed on canvas
3. Already stitched up and you just have to hang it on the wall

Best thing to do is contact the seller and ask for specifics.

I am looking for a cross stitch kit

The item number is EPX 169 ZEBRA. I do know this has been discontinued. Can anyone help me find a kit? The designer is Collette Rushton by Anchor. FLEUR DE LIS

If the kit has been discontinue and if you know who the designer
is than you might need to contact Anchor and find out how you
can still get that kit sent to you. Good-luck.

cross stitch kit replacement thread?

i bought a cross stitch kit from walmart and my dog ended up getting to it before i could get it finished and now i am missing the 032 – blending filament spool and was wondering were i ould get some that matches and how i know what brand of blending filament to buy i looked on the "creative accents" website and could not find it . . . if i bought the same kit would there be enough to do both with what they give you in one ? any help would be appreciated thank you
my dog is fine he didn’t actually eat any of the string just chewed on the plastic spool thank goodness but he totally destroyed it 150lb dog vs. tiny spool of thread . . . dog won lol thank you for your concern :D

032 blending filament sounds like it’s made by Kreinik. Color 032 is Pearl – white with a pearly sheen. Check Michaels to see if they have it. If not, online sources like 123stitch.com will have it. A spool is $1.56 plus shipping.
