what is the significance of autumn black bird motifs on thanksgiving and harvest decorations?

as seen in fall crafting projects like cross stitch samplers and today I saw some feathered replicas in Michaels craft store featured near foam pumpkins.. What do these black birds historically symbolize?

It’s the whole scarecrow/blackbird-crow thing: symbolizing the scarecrow scaring off the blackbirds so that the crop can flourish and be harvested in the Autumn!

They’re crows– they eat the leftover corn from the harvest.

i have no idea I think the crows look stupid. I would rather just see fall leaves or a cornecorpia or turkeys and pumpkins for a fall craft project.
