I would like to make my daughter’s first stocking, and I’m a fairly quick learner. I just wondered about how long it would take if I worked on it every day until Christmas. If I can’t finish in a month at least I’ll have it for next year.
It really depends on the size and the detail I have a chart for one and it states it will take 4 weeks to complete. It is a very detailed chart though.
From what you say you are not experienced so try and find one that is quite simple and you should be able to complete.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.

If you put in a few hours each day a stocking sized cross stitch should take about 2 weeks. Of course it depends on how fast you work but assuming you’re rather new to cross stitching, it should take about two weeks. But don’t wait until last minute as unforseen errors can lengthen the project time. Also if you run out of string before you finish try checking the kit manufacturer’s website. Often they will post a color chart showing you the closest color number in DMC brand floss.
